THREE MONTH TEAM WORK SPRINT
The student cohort were tasked with the challenge to develop a brand storytelling strategy for a US college market for this innovative Barcelona sports brand.
SELF BRAND DEVELOPMENT
Alongside the work based project our team at BASE worked with students individually to develop their professional brands. This included workshops around Linkedin and networking to ensure they were taking a proactive approach in their career design.
DISCORD PROJECT MANAGEMENT
It's critical that students develop their project management skills throughout the work based learning project. We introduce and support students in the use of professional project management and communication platforms such as Discord and the google suites.
This online program example was delivered in 2023 for Linfield University and their Sports Management graduate program.
This specific program ran over a three month period and in line with our partners curriculum. Below is a snapshot of what each month contained in regards to the project schedule and milestones.
In month one of the project we introduce student teams to the client brief and the project expectations. They work to build a project plan and have their initial meeting with their client to set relevant goals and communication channels.
Teams then work with their BASE coach to ensure they are managing their team and the project in the most effective manner and in line with the key milestones.
In the second month the teams have regular communication with their BASE coach, this included a residency where they could work together in a work sprint to move their project forward in line with the key deliverables.
In the final month the teams finish off the daft of their project and complete a mock presentation to their BASE coach.
They would also have arranged their final presentation directly with their client to be presented at the end of the final month.
The teams present their final work to their client including relevant supporting materials.
Once each team finished their presentation to the client they were then required to perform a full debrief of the project. This included:
1. Self assessment. Each student would independently reflect on their experience and highlight development and learnings from their time working on the project.
2. Peer assessment. Students would assess their peers performance on the project and provide advice for improvement for future work based projects.
3. BASE Coach assessment. Each individual team member is assessed by their BASE coach and provided with suggestions for future improvements.
4. Client assessment. The client reviews each team (not individual) in line with their objectives.
Once all assessments were completed each time spent time with their BASE coach in reviewing the process and reflecting on what they had learnt over the three months and where they could improve.
The BASE team provided Linfield with relevant individual student grades in line with the agreed rubric and learning outcomes.
